This is an informative & educational story about Mary Ellen Stoll : Former Speech and Singing Voice Repair Client from Brockville, Ontario –  Now an active member of the Brockville Barbershop Chorus (Thousand Islanders Chorus) . "Hi Diana, I just wanted to let you know I survived about 10 different Xmas singing events with the chorus WITH NO IMPACT ON MY VOICE; and for some of those events, we were singing outside in all types of weather - (Christmas parades and Xmas tree lighting etc.)"   Mary Ellen came to us in the year 2017 soon after she retired from being a manager within the Government of Ontario. Interestingly enough, her husband had also retired from service in the Government of Ontario on the same day and in the same year. Even more interestingly, both of them were born on the same day… and the same year…!! A few days ago, they both turned 66 years old. Congratulations to both of you, Mary Ellen and Steve! Below is Mary Ellen’s story: Over 40 years

THE SAGA CONTINUES... One more time there is a successful and entertaining story of our former voice repair client, Todd ORLANDO Perusini

Image
In January 2008, I picked up a phone call from a person who called himself "Orlando". Right away, I was curious to know if that was his real name or, perhaps, a stage name...? Nevertheless, this person assured me that it was his real name and also added that his mother was, in fact, very creative - and thus, gave him such a name. Orlando spoke with me with a quite raspy and hoarse voice and he told me that he just visited an ENT (he called me from Mexico, where he usually spends his winter time) and revealed that, while there, he had been told that he had a one-millimetre nodule  on one of his vocal cords. With that diagnosis, he was suggested immediate vocal surgery. On this note, Orlando placed a call to me - during which he was quite inquisitive (reminded me of a KGB interrogation). Surprisingly enough, with all the desperation, he seemed to be not in a hurry to make a commitment to come to Toronto to attend my course and treatment. He, however, placed another c

Case Study #2 - Todd, ORLANDO, Perusini Todd ORLANDO Perusini came through our doors on February the 4th of 2008. At the time, he was residing in Mexico (he was originally from Okanagan Valley, B.C.). He had a one-millimetre nodule on his right vocal cord. He was very disturbed by it, as his speaking voice (raspy and hoarse at the time) was affecting his very prominent real-estate career. But also, Todd’s biggest pleasure in life was to compose songs (primarily in Jazz style) and record his voice singing. Nonetheless, that too was greatly compromised. Todd was suggested to undergo an immediate vocal operation. He, though, was super cautious and thus decided to try a non-surgical approach. Todd contacted us and, nevertheless, had given us quite a hard time with regards to convincing him that we could help him to get rid of his nodule non-surgically. Still being very cautious, he booked a non-surgical voice repair course and treatment for the minimum duration of only 10 hours.

In the past month, we finished three non-surgical voice repair courses with people from out-of-town and out-of-country. The first international client, named Alberto ‘Maui’ Mauiztic (a singer/songwriter from Cozumel, Mexico) , came to us for just 20 hours of non-surgical voice repair and natural herbal treatment. He had severe pain in the throat while speaking and singing due to laryngitis and vocal cord nodules. Due to the above, his vocal cords were inflamed and strained.  - I would like to remind you, my reader, that the protocol for non-surgical voice repair, is minimum 30 hours of our very unique instruction and, of course, treatment with natural herbs and homeopathic remedies. _____ For greater clarity and in a manner of speaking, those type of courses are equivalent to a rehab (in this case, vocal rehab). As our client/student has been raving about his success with the Vocal Science Method and Technique, I personally got a little co

What is the Difference Between Voice Problems (Voice Disorders) & Speech Problems (Speech Impediment)?

Image
For the last 2 and a half decades, we are more and more treating voice problems and also, sometimes, quite serious speech problems – the identification of which is  speech impediment. What is the difference between the two described above, you, my reader, may ask? There is definitely a difference between speaking voice problems (which are usually much easier to correct, as they are caused by a wrong application of one’s voice), and a speech impediment.  The former may cause voice disorders like: • Muscle Tension Dysphonia • Spasmodic Dysphonia • Vocal Cord Nodules, Polyps, Lesions, etc. As for a speech impediment, it is usually either some kind of a birth defect, (which directly effects the manner of the person’s speaking) or it is a consequence of some other diseases; like for example, stroke (pre or post condition) ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) or the aftermath of any kind of accident occurrence. In the latter, the speech center of one’s brain may be quit
