From the point of Music View -“Spic and Span”… It’s time to “Dust Off” the Music Scene and It’s Time to “Dust Off” your Voice and you’re Music Instruments.

Teaching and producing artists for over three decades in Toronto, I sadly have been noticing that the music industry in Canada and particularly in Toronto is subsiding to nothing.

In the previous years, the solo artists, the bands, the pop groups were, so to speak, popping out almost on an everyday basis.

What is happening now in the precious present, you may wonder?
Where are those exiting acts, what happened to them, and why are we not hearing anything about anybody from our own, so to speak, “backyard”?
Three and a half years ago, the young Canadian band with a lot of passion, great aspirations, dreams and stars in their eyes, approached me with the idea of the vocal improvement for a lead singer (now she works for me as a junior instructor and personal assistant), and then the idea of the recording of their very good and original material, which I partially also assisted them with.

Couple of weeks ago, I have asked my assistant if they are still playing, or at least, rehearsing, on a regular basis like before.
The answer was- “hardly”.
I decided to elaborate further on that and after a short conversation, I understood that my used to be student/artist is completely discouraged, as her band has nowhere to play and if they are allowed such a “privilege”, they have to pay the club for “allowing them the pleasure” to perform!
I could not believe my ears, but unfortunately, it was true.
The clubs are not encouraging the bands and solo acts to take their stages, but rather, the opposite, a lot of artists and artists to be, are completely discouraged for playing any music or improve their artistic skills, as they don’t have the venues to exercise their craft.
How sad is that!?

The music scene in Toronto is literally shut down.
The bands are breaking up, as they don’t have any motivation to improve their craft, while understanding that their efforts will not be appreciated.
So, a once vibrant and artistic city Toronto is practically silent now.
The music scene is dying and practically dead already.
So what would be the solution?

In my opinion, if the owners of the clubs would smarten up and dust off their stages “spic and span” and then the artists respectively, would “dust off” their voices and their musical instruments, maybe, just maybe, our music scene would experience a rebirth, which would serve a great deal to our hearts and souls, and would definitely rejuvenate our lives in general.
